Embraer Names José Gustavo VP of Sales and BD for Europe and Africa

To strengthen its Defense and security branch in Europe and Africa, Embraer named José Gustavo Vice President of Sales and Business Development. This was a calculated move. Leveraging Gustavo’s significant 20-year international expertise, the aerospace giant with its headquarters located in São José dos Campos, Brazil, hopes to increase sales and extend its footprint in important countries.

Reported to Embraer Defense & Security CCO Frederico Lemos, José Gustavo is an accomplished aeronautical engineer who will be based in Lisbon, Portugal. Gustavo has led defense programs such as NATO Command Structure and ran successful sales campaigns for Embraer products such as the C-390 in Europe and the A-29 in Africa. These experiences have contributed to his skills.

Gustavo brings a plethora of experience to his current position, having been instrumental in the creation of A-29 NATO variants and improving capabilities for the C-390. Declaring his satisfaction with the appointment, Frederico Lemos says, “José Gustavo’s successful track record and in-depth understanding of the region make him a valuable asset not just for Defense & Security but for Embraer as a whole.”

Before joining Embraer Defense & Security in 2013, José Gustavo served as an officer in the Portuguese Air Force. His devotion to lifelong learning is demonstrated by his varied educational background, which includes postgraduate degrees in advanced project management, advanced negotiation, sales leadership, international relations, and commercial management.

Founded in 1969, Embraer is a major worldwide player in the aerospace industry with over 8,000 delivered aircraft and a leading position in commercial jets with up to 150 passengers. In line with its goal of supplying state-of-the-art aircraft and technologies globally, the company has expanded into Europe and Africa. José Gustavo’s hiring is a calculated move to bolster Embraer’s standing in the global defense and security industry.
