The Ministry of Tourism announced on June 19 that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with online housing hosting platform Airbnb in order to promote India as a sought-after travel destination.

The Ministry expressed hope that Airbnb in India will help promote the country’s rich culture to people all over the world.

Airbnb “Visit India 2023” programme aims to promote the country’s many cultural offerings.

As part of this effort to draw attention to India’s rich cultural history and architectural wonders to a worldwide audience, Airbnb came up with a specialised microsite named “Soul of India”.

Airbnb will support hosts in untapped tourist areas by helping them advertise their homestays.

The company would provide the ministry with travel and homestay data so that it could develop policies on responsible tourism and training needs.
