In an important authorization of its sustainable and women-inclusive efforts, the Responsible Tourism Mission of Kerala in the Best Local Sourcing-Craft and Food category has recently grabbed the ‘Gold’ award of the International Centre for Responsible Tourism.
Coordinator and State Rural Tourism Nodal Officer, K Rupeshkumar, of Kerala Responsible Tourism Mission, received the honour from Ankush Seth, Program Officer, UNESCO for India, Maldives, Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh, at the ceremony of India Responsible Tourism Awards 2023 at the Business+Leisure Travel and Mice Meet arranged in New Delhi.
Kerala RT Mission by grabbing this impressive award gets qualified to take part in the Global Responsible Award to be given in London in November.
Lately, in Idukki district, Kanthalloor village panchayath, where the sustainable and comprehensive STREET tourism scheme of Kerala RTM was implemented successfully, bagged the ‘Gold’ award of the Indian Government for the Best Rural Tourism Projects.
P A Mohamed Riyas, Kerala Tourism Minister, said that this honour is yet another authorization of the initiative of Kerala RT, which has a set of internationally valued models that comprise sustainable and gender-inclusive schemes that bring profit to the local community.
This honour affirms once again that initiatives of Kerala Tourism on women empowerment and growing local community has helped a lot.
