During her appearance before the Congress tourism committee on Wednesday, Spain’s Secretary of State for Tourism, Rosana Morillo, reported that the Balearic Islands are rebounding faster than other tourist regions. Morillo stated that Easter bookings are currently 30% higher than pre-pandemic levels in 2019, and flight data shows an increase of 24% compared to other holiday destinations.

This high demand is driving job creation in the Balearics, with employment up 25% compared to Easter last year, according to a report by recruitment company Randstad. The increase in hiring is also due to the fact that more hotels are open than before the pandemic. In Mallorca, 80% of hotels will be open in April.

Morillo also shared that hotel occupancy rates are expected to be between 72% and 80%, with certain resorts like Cala Millor, Playa de Muro, and Playa de Palma approaching 100% occupancy. Overall, hotel companies are predicting a 70% occupancy rate, and the average daily rate (ADR) is higher than it was for Easter 2019, indicating a profitable Easter for hotels.

As for holiday rentals, the Habtur association reports that 60% of accommodation will be available, with an average occupancy rate of 70%.
