Few inhabitants residing in the area of Germany battered in the Dambusters attacks have censured
holidays by British travelers, with events continuing to remember the 80th anniversary of the raid.

On Monday, the King went to see an RAF base in Lincolnshire, which is inclusive of the remembrances of the May 1943 attacks.

An expected 1,300 people, majorly of who were citizens, were slain in the raid, accompanied by 53
airmen.

Elke Husemann, living adjacent to the Ruhr River, insisted an end to tourist stopovers.

Historian Dan Snow said that he agreed why German inhabitants would not be pleased regarding tourist
visitation.

Snow said that he neither blames the Germans for being astonished and disappointed due to visits by
people; however, he does not either blame people embarking on such tours.

He added that because these folks wish to see the place about which they have heard a great deal and
where the story of their country was made.

Operation Chastise was envisioned to overflow a massive area of Germany’s industrialized Ruhr Valley
by destroying dams with missiles.
