Few tourism representatives in Nova Scotia stated that while the top season might have passed, it proved to be a wonderful year, with extra tourists coming to the province compared to the levels before the pandemic.
Ross Jefferson, the president and the CEO of Discover Halifax, said that the amount of visitors has increased 8.5 per cent equated to the levels before the pandemic.
Jefferson said that it is significant for the economies in Atlantic Canada and in Halifax. On an average year,
they aim to welcome around 5.3 million overnight stays. They will spend around $1.3 billion in all of the
shops and the undertakings in the place.
Jefferson said that this year’s improvement can be accredited to numerous great events, comprising the
World Junior Hockey Championship, the North American Indigenous Games among several meetings.
In the meantime, the Port of Halifax is regularly greeting tourists. If everything happens as per plan,
there will be around 190 cruise ships that have called on the Port by the conclusion of the season.
Lane Farguson, the director of communications and marketing for the Port said that before the pandemic,
their eventful time was 2019, where they had more than 323,000 visitors in a single year. However, it has
not been rainbows and sunshine for everyone. Some businesses got affected due to numerous important
weather actions over the last few months.
