Jamaica comes back with a bang after pandemic woes

Jamaica has come back with a bang with the waning of the pandemic distress.

Edmund Bartlett, Jamaica’s Tourism Minister said that the island nation is marching forward of its timetable regarding recovery from the pandemic and is at par with the tourism revenue witnesses in 2019, which is the pre-pandemic year.
Bartlett opined that tourism has generated $3 billion in expenditure in Jamaica through August 27.

In actual fact, if the recovery process of tourism continues at this speed for the remaining part of this year, it is expected to exceed 2019’s annual total of $3.6 billion gained from the tourism sector.

Bartlett said that tourism, as the industry propelling the economy, is now improving faster than expected. He said that they anticipated that they would recuperate to the level of 2019 by 2023-2024. Jamaica did a mid-year evaluation this weekend and they are quite happy with the results. Jamaica witnessed 1.7 million visitors who spent just a little less than $3 billion. In 2019, Jamaica had earned $3.6 billion for the complete year, and now, the country is just at the edge of $3 billion; hence, the industry is expected to earn $4B for the whole of 2022.

Jamaica, for long, earned the reputation of being one of the most popular tourist spots in the Caribbean, and its renaissance has been extraordinary. Frontier Airlines recently prolonged its flights to Jamaica.
