Cumberland Building Society invests £45 million in Scotland tourism

Cumberland Building Society, based in Carlisle, has demonstrated its commitment to Scotland’s tourism sector by investing £45 million in the past two years.

The investment comes as a response to the significant pressures faced by the tourism industry nationwide during the pandemic, with more than half of businesses in the sector still struggling in survival mode.

The recovery of the tourism industry has been hampered by the ongoing cost-of-living crisis, while rising interest rates are adding further strain to Scotland’s hospitality businesses as they grapple with higher mortgage repayments.

As tourism plays a crucial role in Scotland’s economy, providing support for the sector has become paramount in navigating the challenges ahead and helping businesses realize their potential.
