Telangana’s tourism sector has rebounded, but has not reached the levels of pre- COVID times, as per the data from Ministry of Tourism. Telangana in pre-COVID 2018 experienced 92.87 million local tourists coming to the State. However, when the sector was impacted by the pandemic the numbers in 2022 have reached 60.75 million after three years. In 2021, the low point was witnessed when just 32 million domestic tourists went to Telangana.

The low numbers are truly astounding as Telangana has made striking addition to the infrastructure and attractions related to tourism industry. Telangana got the first World Heritage Site two years back for Palampet’s Ramappa Temple. Also, it has Chandlapur, Pembarthi and Pochampally which have been identified as few best tourism villages in the last two years.

Hyderabad itself has experienced a massive change with the addition of sound and light show. This show will be organized at the Osmania University Arts College, followed by lighting up of Charminar, refurbishment of the Residency Building and the continuing work of conservation at the Qutb Shahi Tombs Complex.

With even the filmmakers, the cable suspension bridge has turned into a tourist hotspot, making the spot ideal for filming urban locations. Incidentally, in Telangana, only the Golconda Fort was among the top 10 tourist attractions.
