In the first half of 2023, international arrivals in Türkiye increased by almost 20%, as per the official data.

It also showed tourism revenues to increase by almost a third, keeping up a powerful trend in tourism that is key financial source.

From January through June, almost 19.62 million overseas tourists arrived in Türkiye, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, Culture and Tourism Minister, said this, marking a 19.88% add from 16.37 million a year back. In June, arrivals alone increased 11.35% annually to over 5.58 million.

This year’s impetus has been motivated by a huge rise in vacationers from Europe, mainly from the United Kingdom and Germany, in addition to arrivals from Russia, mainly because of restrictions in flight imposed by Western nations over invasion of Moscow in Ukraine.

The figure of the first-half got to almost 22.95 million when international tourists of Turkish origin are considered, marking a 17.5% add to some 19.53 million in last year, Ersoy informed a news conference to proclaim the data.

From January-June, Russian arrivals reached 2.61 million, the data from Culture and Tourism Ministry showed the same, compared to almost 1.46 million in the same time one year back, followed by Germany sending 2.27 million tourists and 1.49 million from the U.K.
