Emirates Airlines, located in Dubai, has announced the cancellation of several flights to Hong Kong during the next two days.
On its website, the airline said that certain flights will be cancelled on September 1 and 2 owing to “severe weather conditions caused by Super Typhoon SAOLA.”
On September 1, the following flights were cancelled: EK380, EK384 DXBHKG and BKKHKG, and EK385 HKGDXB and HKGBKK. On September 2, EK381 will be released.
Passengers will be unable to board Hong Kong flights until further notice, according to the airline.
Those affected by the cancellation are encouraged to contact their service providers for “alternative travel arrangements.”
Passengers are also advised to double-check their contact details by visiting Emirates’ Manage Your Booking section to acquire the most recent flight updates.
The storm is expected to make landfall in the afternoon of Friday, September 1 before heading northwest to Hong Kong.
Cathay Pacific, Hong Kong’s flag carrier, has also issued flight cancellations for the aforementioned dates.
