According to NikolinaBrnjac, Croatia’s Minister of Tourism and Sports, 11 million tourists have already arrived in the country this year, and 55 million have stayed over-night which is an 11% increase over the previous year.
KristijanStanii, the director of the Croatian Tourist Board, expressed pleasure with the season’s preliminary performance.
“The positive trend of tourist traffic continues after a record-breaking pre-season,” he said. He made the statement during a press conference.
In the same press conference,Brnjac announced the forthcoming introduction of a new tourism law.
She claimed that the purpose of this law’s introduction is to prevent Croatia from completely depending on sun and sea tourism in the future and to effectively handle the harmful effects that excessive tourism may have on nearby communities and the environment.
Measures for investments in higher value-added products, bettering the design and quality of lodging facilities, spending on sports, entertainment, and other activities, as well as transitioning to a greener and digital economy, are all covered by the law.
The preservation of resources and open space, ensuring the happiness and quality of life for local populations, and boosting Croatian tourism’s competitiveness on a worldwide scale are the objectives of the tourism law, according to her explanation.
