For cruise tourism, ministry drafts national strategy

As part of its recent on-going activities, Shri. G. Kishan Reddy, Ministry of Tourism, released a global print, electronic and online media campaigns in beneficial overseas markets, under the tagline -‘Incredible India’ to encourage different tourism destinations and products of India.

To place India as a favorite cruise tourism destination internationally, Indian Ministry of Tourism has recently drafted a National Strategy on this. For this, strategic pillars have been recognized in the strategy document for circuit enablement and infrastructure, development of market and skills.

 Development of market
 Hassle-free business for cruise tourism
 Integrated tourism in the region of the terminals of the cruises
 Assisting and encouraging investment in cruise tourism
 Developing skills for cruise tourism
 Institutional arrangement and control

Also, ministry of tourism offers financial assistance to the State Governments, Central Government Agencies and UT Administrations for developing cruise tourism, under the scheme of – ‘Assistance to Central Agencies for Tourism Infrastructure development’.

At Ports and Waterways, the particulars of the said projects were approved for infrastructure development under the scheme of Assistance to Central Agencies in the last three years.

Ministry of Tourism collaborated with Ministry of Ports in the 1st Incredible India International Cruise Conference.
